Thomas Decks just recently finished this beautiful Azek deck out in Liberty Township. This is a 18' x 20'11" deck with a 2' bumpout, and a wheelchair accessible ramp down to grade. It's 390 total square feet, and only 9" above ground at the highest elevation. All framing is Southern Yellow Pine #1 with no framing members touching the ground except for the supports which are encased in concrete footers. All 6x6 posts notched with 2x8 bandboards and 2x8 joists at 16" OC. All of the Azek, 5/4x6 decking in the Kona color was screw installed, and also installed parallel with the back of the home, with a picture frame border around the perimeter of the deck, in the Azek Brownstone color. Love this color combo, and the owner's choice to use the lighter color as his border, around the darker decking color....it's different and works beautifully with his home color scheme. Azek Kona fascia was used to cover all rim joists to provide a finished uniform appearance. As long as the homeowner keeps his grass very trimmed around the bottom of the deck, there still should be enough ventiliation to decrease the growth of mold and mildew. Also, there's cleaners on the market for PVC and other composite decks that can help as well. The homeowner also wanted an open plan, only choosing to go with small sections of railing in the Timbertech Radiance rail in the Coastal White color. The posts that support the roof load, are wrapped in a decorative PVC wrap to provide a more finished look and flow with the railing. As you can see, there is a 12' x 22' roof over a portion of the deck. Gable shaped roof with a slope to tie into the existing roof. Trusses were built to span 22' without columns in the middle of the deck. Cathedral ceiling took shape of the gable roof, with ceiling fan installation, ridge vents and soffit vents installed for proper air circulation. Ceiling in tongue and groove pine painted white. All of the decking, framing, railing, trusses, ceiling materials courtesy of our salesman, Rick Wedding at McCabe Lumber. The linear feet of the kitchen, including grill, cabinet, and seating area is 24'. Steel stud and construction support off of deck with concrete backer board with metal lathes. Southern Chardonay Ledgestone was installed on the bottom counters and around the bottom of the firepit by Drew Mueller's team at Brick Tech, and they did a beautiful job on the stone. The granite countertops in the Paradisio stone for the kitchen and the top of the firepit, were provided and installed by Scott haynes with Cinci Granite. Both Drew and Scott were wonderful to work with, and would recommend anyone to give them a call if you're looking for a beautiful veneer stone or countertops. To top this deck off, the owner wanted rope lighting around the perimter of this deck to enjoy at night. After fighting for a variance to build this deck, it was well worth it and would like to thank everyone again involved on this project. If you're needing a beautiful outdoor space, then give us a call, and we can make it happen!
