One week into this project, and we got the old deck demolished, dug the footer holes, concrete poured, and started on the framing. My apologies for the photos being taken so late in the evening....but hopefully you will be able to see the design of this deck. This first cut in on the upper deck that you see on front, is actually a space that will hug a hot tub, and have 1 small sets of steps on each side of the hot tub, for easier entering and exiting the hot tub. There will also be a set of inset steps that will be built down to grade and end on the concrete pad, that allows access to the yard. This next small inset that you see, at the side of the lower deck, is to mirror the design of the upper deck, and to allow the bumpout area of the upper deck to cantilever. The second inset on the far side, front of the upper deck, will be a large set of steps going down to the lower deck. When Matt designed this deck, he did not want the hot tub to be the focal point, thus not centering it in the middle of the deck, but off to the side, leaving 3 more vast areas for entertaining. There will be 3 custom, built-in benches as well for a beautful seating area, on the far side of lower deck. If I've confused you, then you will need to keep checking back for the progress of this deck, to see the design for yourself, or give us a call so we can discuss a deck design for your home!
