Because Angie's List is trying to recoup member fees by making contractors pay these prices! I received this the other day from a fellow contractor here in the Cincinnati area. The first word I thought of was "obscene". Not sure whom thought up this business model over at Angie's List, but this one isn't going to work either. I can't afford this, neither can the contractor above, and I don't know many that can......there's nothing wrong with doing good work and getting referrals by word of mouth. We've never paid for this service, nor will we ever. Yellow Pages and Yellow Book dwindled away when they chose to try charging absurd prices.....I suspect this will as well.
We got to a good point with the framing for this project, even with all of the rain. Keep checking back for more progress photos, and completion.
Even though we've been known to not say "no" to alot, there are some things that we just don't and won't do........not because we feel we're above the work, but because we have no experience and really don't want to take jobs away from the experts. Therefore, we refer folks that call, to other companies that we've worked with previously, and that have helped us:
1. We do not seal, stain, paint, or clean decks. We refer everyone that calls..whether we've built their deck or not to ondeckservices.com Dan and his team are kind enough to advise you even if you don't hire them to perform the work for you. 2. We do not build or install fences/fencing. We did once upon a time, but we cannot install them or build a fence for what the fencing companies can.....they're much cheaper, and without a middle man. We refer everyone that needs this service to http://eadsfence.com/ that lives in the local Cincinnati area. If you happen to live in the Northeast area of Ohio, we have ordered many great products from the following two awesome companies: http://www.hooverfence.com/ and http://www.americanonefenceandrailing.com/ We've installed their products all over the Cincinnati area. They will help you find what you're looking for, and they ship all over the country. 3. We do not do the landscaping at 90% of our deck install jobs. Yes, we can provide the landscape fabric and stone directly underneath our decks if requested. But the in depth, detailed landscaping, or paver areas, we do not install. We do work directly with http://midweststonescapes.com/network.php. Ryan Davis, the owner, can be seen on the DIY Network creating some beautiful yards. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and sometimes, it takes another group to build your deck. We've established some great business relationships over the years, and we wouldn't have had success without them........a great referral network is a must in business, and helps you deliver everything needed by a potential customer. Thomas, KY area This is a 14' x 20' wood deck, with clipped corners, and with black American Aluminum railing, West Chester, OH area This is a 12' x 16' all wood deck. Lebanon, OH area. I know I will get questions....sometimes, the superintendents don't call me to have a deck installed on the back of these market homes until after the siding is installed. So, now that we're finished, the siding company will be back around to replace this siding. Also, the corner is not against the window, and that is a big as we could go without blocking the window view......rest assured, when sitting inside, you will have a clear view, and not have to look at a deck post :)
