Just finished up this pool deck renovation for these homeowners. Before the renovation, they had a small landing coming off the deck, with one long run of stairs, that ended right at the corner of the pool. Once exiting the stairs, people were having to sneak past the corner of the pool with hopes of not slipping, and falling in. We demoed their old stairs and redesigned their new set of stairs, having them exit the opposite way, away from the pool area. Also their 3 posts on the front of the deck were looking a bit worn, so we replaced those decorative post with 4x4's, and wrapped them in a "khaki" colored vinyl post wrap that matched their house trim perfectly. We continued on with the "khaki" vinyl post wrap on the 4x4's for the stair railing posts as well. We installed black aluminum railing panels in between the deck posts, and the stair posts. This was a relatively inexpensive fix for these homeowners, and one where the benefits of safety, and functionality outweighed the costs. Turned out looking very nice too! Give us a call if you've got an outside area that needs some rehabbing or if you want to get an estimate for a new deck.
Day 3 & 4 - About to be finished up with the deck part of this project, and it's looking great! Still have a few things to take care of on the deck, before we begin the dock. The dock is actually going to be about 1.5 times the size of the deck when it's completed. I must say though, if you've never visited this area before, take yourself a Sunday drive and check it out. It's about an hour and twenty minute drive from the greater Cincinnati area, but absolutely worth it.....beautiful lake and scenery! Never been able to sit still or be quiet long enough to be any good at fishing, but I would consider buying myself a rod and reel, grab my favorite coffee cup, just to be out there all day. Keep checking back for the progress of this project, or you can give us a call for your free deck estimate.
One of the hardest things that a homeowner has the hardest time with, is ideas for their deck....materials, railings, color, textures and especially the design. While some of these decks in the slide show may not make it past the permit approval phase of your local building department codes, they can still give you some ideas to help you customize your space into something you would enjoy. The MSN article correctly describes what most people try to accomplish...... A good deck can capture a view, create a comfortable outdoor room and add a feeling of spaciousness to your home by blurring the boundaries between inside and out.
Our salesman Rick Wedding, at McCabe Lumber can help you find the materials, the railings, or anything else you may need or want for your deck. Go visit McCabe Lumber to see their excellent decking displays, and give us a call to come out to your home to discuss a unique design for your outdoor space
Day 2 & 3......Sometimes you got to step back and laugh at things, plus yourself. That's why there's no "Day 1" photos to show, because we spent the day laughing.....trying to not just dive out in the lake and swim away. "Deck" builders we are..."dock" builders we are not. But, Thomas Decks is always up for a challenge, and we've got one. Top of the dock....that looks like a deck, no problem....trying to pound wood marine piers in that lake floor for the supports for the dock, is a different kind of animal. We're used to digging the holes first, then putting the post in....not this time. The owner wants what he wants, and we make sure he gets what he's paying for. So, after the equipment rental failed, need to give a shout out to the gentlemen from every pile driving business, every dock building business, every crane business, and those in between, that I spoke with, that were very generous with your advice and ideas...a big thank you to all of you! Anyway, after the first day's mess, decided to just go ahead and get started on the deck. So, that we did, and it's moving right along. We will be finishing the dock as soon as the equipment ordered gets here, so please keep checking back for the completion of this project, or give us a call for a free estimate for your new deck! Or dock!
Tomorrow we start a deck and dock project up at Lake Lorelei. Looking forward to this project as we will be pile driving marine treated piers into the lake floor for the new dock. Please keep checking back for photos of our progress on this project. Give us a call or fill out our information form for a free estimate to get on our schedule for your new deck this season.
I've never been a gal to care too much for lattice....you get images of those little squares in your mind, then the look of it fading out, not matching your deck or your porch. Visitors get worried about what's down there behind the lattice because they notice that some it has been chewed away, with wood splinters sticking out, or you have a piece of it out in the middle of your yard for no reason. Well, lattice has come along way, and Acurio Lattice is here to show you just how much....Who knew it could look this classy and pretty? I didn't and that's why when I seen their website, I had to show it off on ours! I am loving their products!! It can change the entire look of your porch, patio or deck! And it's not just for the bottom of your porch or deck anymore either! They have top deck and porch panels to give your space some umph and privacy from the neighbors. All photos of the outdoor spaces with Acurio lattice are courtesy of Acurio Lattice.
