I am loving these spiral stairs!!!!!!!!!! I really do, and I think they're a no-brainer when it comes to using the space you have wisely. I've always said stairs can make or break a deck, and you can't hide ugly stairs.......so, the very nice gentlemen at UglyDeck .com have done all of the thinking for you, and for us...........After dealing with some of the zoning departments regarding setbacks in a customer's yard, this makes all the sense in the world. You don't want to take away square footage of your deck with in-set stairs, but sometimes, you don't have a choice. Here's your answer. These stairs just don't come "one size fits all".....these spiral stairs are manufactured according to the specifications of your deck, then arrive as a kit that can be installed by lunchtime. If you've chose Azek as your decking material, then Azek stair treads is what you will get. Timbertech decking, Timbertech treads, and so on. They're also available in either aluminum or steel, and you can forgo the balusters, and install the cable railing instead.......your choices are endless. I was so impressed with these spiral stairs, and all of the options, that I wanted to showcase them on our website. UglyDeck.com is located in Minnesota, but can ship them anywhere cross country. If you're interested in more information regarding these spiral stairs. UglyDeck.com contact information and the color options, are listed below all of the photos of their work.
![]() American homeowners increasingly are drawn to adding outdoor rooms for entertaining and recreation on their properties, according to the 2013 Residential Landscape Architecture Trends survey conducted by the American Society of Landscape Architects. The results also show demand for sustainable and low-maintenance design. Terraces, patios, and decks are high on people’s lists (97.6 percent), as are fencing (89.6 percent) and ornamental water features (84.2 percent). I mentioned in an earlier blog that decks, patios, and 3-season rooms have become the new family rooms and dens across America. As economical problems still loom over our heads, people are looking to their homes not only as their safe havens, but their entertainment spaces as well. Just stay home and chill out, save money, but enjoy yourself at the same time. The photo of the deck on the left is one we finished back in August of 2012. The customers chose a pergola, benches, an outdoor kitchen and firepit. You don't always have to be extravagant, but an outdoor space is a must for most home buyers today. Let us help help you have the outdoor area for you and your family to enjoy. BEFORE COMING SOON TEASERWe recently just started this IPE'/Brazillain wood deck for this customer. I couldn't wait to show you a teaser of how beautiful this wood is! Folks, that wood has no stain on any of those decking boards whatsoever!l! Those beautiful reddish/brown hues are natural, and all the homeowner will have to do is oil it over the years and this wood will maintain this beatiful color throughout its lifespan. Weather, insect and rot resistant, it's a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it and especially when it will be still standing in 30 years or more. keep checking back for the finished project, or give us a call and let us come out to your home to discuss your outdoor plans with you!

All the composite and PVC decks are beautiful, to say the least, but sometimes you just have to still go hug a tree and appreciate a treated lumber deck. And I do love this deck! This is some of the prettiest grained treated lumber I've seen in a long time, and the grain will really show up great when these customers seal and stain it. This is a a 14'x20'11" deck, with 2 sets of steps down to grade. Total square footage of deck totals 412 square feet. A 6'x12'10" bumpout gives this deck a balcony feel, and a picture frame border around the perimeter of the deck, gives it a nice, finished look. All pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine #1 was used for the framing, decking, steps and railing for this deck. You can find this material at McCabe Lumber.
